The Devil All the Time by Donald Ray Pollock
The Devil All the Time

Jonathan Adams, January 26, 2013

The Devil All The Time, takes us on a journey into the dark recesses of America's heartland were God is preached but never seems to be available. Multiple narratives crisscross these pages much like the highways of America. A WW2 solider's son, who despite all odds grows up to understand justice, to a Photojournalist Serial Killer, traveling the heartland on assignment for the next victim, there is never a dull moment. Mr. Pollock has solidified himself as a new master of American fiction by taking the lens of his mind and pointing it towards those uncomfortable subjects and the people who exist beyond the pastoral in all their many perversions.

Damascus by Joshua Mohr
Damascus

Jonathan Adams, January 20, 2012

A dark melody of modern life, revolving around desperate characters who's only real connection is the loneliness that draws them to Damascus a dive bar for the forgotten. This novel is the answer to the wizard of Oz for those who prefer hard spirits to fairy dust and munchkins.
