Amazing story! This is the true story of Alice Garlock, co-written by her and her husband Rick. It's hard to believe that anyone could have survived the childhood that she did, and not become another statistic. You will love this book!

Another awesome book from Laurie Notaro -- I loved the story, loved the characters. Lucy Fisher comes home from one last girls only vacation before her wedding only to find all of her belongings on the lawn of the house she shared with her fiance. From there her life, and her death, take on quite a journey. Loved "ghost school". If Laurie Notaro comes to your city for a reading, you MUST go see her.
I highly recommend this book. I had the pleasure of seeing the author at Powell's (thank you Powell's!) and she was incredible. Heidi Durrow won the Bellwether Prize for Fiction because of the social issues of the book. But there is much more to the story. “The Girl Who Fell From the Sky” is a story of life, love, grief, survival, and learning about your past as well as your future.

Amazing book! This was a gift from a friend who loved the book so much that she didn't want to give her own copy away. I think this is possibly the only time that I was interrupted from my reading while on the MAX by someone who couldn't wait to tell me how much they loved the book. And thank you to Powell's for bringing Carlos Ruiz Zafon to Portland, he was amazing and made me appreciate the book even more.
Powell's City of Books is an independent bookstore in Portland, Oregon, that fills a whole city block with more than a million new, used, and out of print books. Shop those shelves — plus literally millions more books, DVDs, and eBooks — here at Powells.com.
