Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail by Cheryl Strayed
Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail

Kate Yager, January 4, 2013

Wild was a wild ride of a read! I took it on my camping trip to the Redwood forest and Crater Lake this summer. It resonated with me because I had gone through a major personal loss in my life and it helped me release grief and move past my pain, it also gave me hope of what comes next. That being said, it wasn't just that I connected with the book personally, it was simply a great story which made me laugh and cry. It is the kind of story you fall into and get lost and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I've shared it with several of my friends who have also commented on how much they enjoyed the experience of this book.

On a side note, while at Crater Lake, outside the local gas station/grocery store were the PCT boxes that the author references in the book. It was an interesting moment like I was stepping outside of my reality and into the book itself just for a moment.

Think: Straight Talk for Women to Stay Smart in a Dumbed-Down World by Lisa Bloom
Think: Straight Talk for Women to Stay Smart in a Dumbed-Down World

Kate Yager, January 4, 2013

While I usually stick to fiction, I couldn't stop reading this book! Lisa Bloom writes to women, with pertinent observations and advice. I bought 4 copies of her book as Christmas presents for my 4 daughters and plan to have reading discussions with each of them, chapter by chapter. I can't wait to re-read this book with my daughters. I've recommended it to all my girl friends and highly recommend it to anyone.
