Peeing on Hot Coals: A Scorching Memoir by Pat Montandon
Peeing on Hot Coals: A Scorching Memoir

Katy B, October 23, 2014

This is a fascinating memoir by Pat Montandon. It is an entertaining, funny, horrific and amazing story beginning when she was a young girl in the Dustbowl of Oklahoma with very evangelistic parents through to her life as a 'socialite' in San Francisco. Could not put it down!

A Reporter's Life by Walter Cronkite
A Reporter's Life

An excellent autobiography by Walter Cronkite. Full of history, but also very entertainly written - lots of funny anecdotes! Includes his personal life, careers in journalism, radio, TV at the very beginning through to the end of his career in that field, and the many wars that he covered. A fabulous round-up of 20th century history as well as a history of an amazing reporter with much integrity.

One on One. Craig Brown by Craig Brown
One on One. Craig Brown

Katy B, October 2, 2012

Fascinating, humorous and very entertaining non-fiction book of 101 actual encounters between famous people, all thoroughly researched as listed in the bibliography. Some of the meetings are Paul McCartney meets Elvis, Elvis meets President Nixon, Nixon meets Peggy Lee, Petty Lee meets Truman Capote, and so on. The book includes much history in its circle of 101 meetings, e.g., Grigori Rasputin and Tsar Nicholas II, Tsar and Harry Houdini, Houdini and Theodor Roosevelt, TR and H.G. Wells, Wells and Josef Stalin... A book that can be read a little at a time, but I warn you it is very addictive!

I haven't even finished it yet, but it is extraordinary! One of those books you don't want to put down, but also one you want to last a long time.
