Then They Came for Me: A Family's Story of Love, Captivity, and Survival by Maziar Bahari and Aimee Molloy
Then They Came for Me: A Family's Story of Love, Captivity, and Survival

Kim Curtis, January 20, 2012

Although the subject matter - the author's stay in Iran's infamous Evin Prison following the 2009 election protests - may seem a bit of a downer, this was an excellent book that highlighted the strength of the human spirit. Bahari weaved the story of his prison stay together with his family's history and the wider history of Iran. The result is a very informative read that gives new color to the ongoing protests in the Middle East and ideas on where Iran may be heading in the future.
