I have recently written a novel about life in England during the Second World War. I felt some concern before I tackled this theme — the War...

My husband and I have been staying in yurts for years on the Oregon Coast. The Oregon Parks and Recreation does a fabulous job with the upkeep of all their yurts. We have completely fallen in love with “yurting,” so much so that we plan to purchase our own yurt someday. Prior to the recent publication of this book, we mainly did our research online. There are other books out on yurts but nothing as comprehensive as Becky Kemery’s book. Ms. Kemery’s book is a fascinating read on the history of yurts. The photographs of yurts are beautiful. Ms. Kemery has gone into so much detail, discussing yurt companies, building codes and construction. This wonderful book has given our dream of yurt owning more detail. Sharing this book has made it possible for family and friends to understand our love of yurting and see what we hope to build someday.

Every Christmas our Mom would read this delightful story to my sister and me. We never tired of hearing it year after year. When we were old enough to read ourselves, she had to buy us two copies as we didn’t want to share. I love sharing this story with my nephews now. It wouldn’t be Christmas without reading this book.

This is one of the most poignant books I have ever read. It is such an important book that it should be required reading. Ms. Salbi takes us inside Iraq and a view of the country, people and politics that most Americans are unaware existed. It is amazing the personal strength that carried Ms. Salbi through her life so far. Her organization, Women for Women International, has done so much good since it?s inception in 1993. She was even allowed to return to her home country to help there too. This is one of the books that I will take off my shelf every few years to re-read.
