Leven Thumps #04: Leven Thumps and the Wrath of Ezra

Kimberly LeBlanc, January 26, 2009

My son and I read together every night. We picked up the first book in this series about a year ago and have loved every page of all 4 books. This one is no exception. Obert Skye is a master at grabbing your imagination and taking it places you never thought it could go. He has created a refreshingly original world and filled it with beautifully described landscapes, unique, 3-dimensional characters and a clever, well-paced storyline that is captivating and magical.

"Leven Thumps and the Wrath of Ezra" continues the story of the battle for Foo. Foo is a world made up of, and powered by, the imagination and dreams of all mankind. Leven Thumps is a teenager who discovers that fate has chosen him to be the savior of Foo and, ultimately, of Reality itself. He is accompanied by Winter, a brave girl who is always ready to fight for what she believes in and has the ability to freeze things; Geth, a lithen from Foo who has complete faith in the wisdom of Fate and always manages to find the bright side of even the darkest situation; and Clover, Leven's timid and curious sycophant guardian. (The sycophants are one of the races that inhabit Foo.) Leven and his friends have seen the increasing turmoil in Foo and are aware of the evil that is trying to seize control of Foo and gain access to the gateway into Reality. They have been preparing themselves and the inhabitants of Foo for the inevitable battle to save the dreams and hopes of mankind. Now, that time has come.

If you haven't read the first three books, it shouldn't be hard to pick up. However, I highly recommend reading the first three simply because they are fantastic books. Obert Skye has a way of taking the simplest, most mundane things and twisting them just a bit and making you see them in fascinating ways. They are full of humor and heart. They are entertaining and will appeal to all ages.
