We the Animals by Justin Torres
We the Animals

The best book I read in 2012 even though it came out in 2011 - but the paperback came out in 2012. The prose was up there with Jeanette Winterson and absolutely fabulous.

Dear Darkness by Kevin Young
Dear Darkness

Kirsten Myers, February 6, 2009

Great to read poems about okra and boudin in the middle of winter in the Northeast. More than that, though, the entire book is filled with poems great to read aloud over and over.

A Fictional History of the United States: with Huge Chunks Missing:

Kirsten Myers, September 21, 2006

All of the stories are great! A lot of tongue in cheek humor and it's easy to imagine this fiction to have existed as actual lives - making it that much more relevant.
