Jaw-dropping, heart-rending, blackly humorous and original. Can't heap on enough hyphenated praise for "Oh Pure and Radiant Heart"! It is the job of every important book to tell of things that are true; in the case of "Oh Pure," that goes for the historical base of the subject matter, but also the emotional tone Millet sustains throughout. At its core there's a heart pumping blood and aching with the horrible weight of The Bomb and the men who made it.
