When I was reading this book, I was either doubled over in laughter or marveling over Sedaris' subtle insights into people. He points out some of our uglier traits, but in a way that makes them not so much ugly as human. David Sedaris is a gifted writer and a delightful humorist... run out and get this book, along with everything else he's ever published!! Then ride my bus, please, so I won't be the only one laughing out loud.

My 9-yr-old son did not inherit the "reading" gene, so getting him to pick up a book without cartoon characters in it has been a challenge. We stumbled onto the Bullseye Step into Classics series while searching for a children's version of Les Miserables to help prepare the kids to see the musical. My son loved the book and immediately wanted to read the other volumes in the set... Swiss Family Robinson, Dracula, Phantom of the Opera, etc... I think ordered every volume Powells had! Obviously, these are not replacements for the real thing, but what a testament to the power of these stories that they captured the imagination of someone who volunteers to clean his room if it gets him out of reading!!

Great title - great book! For years, I've flipped to the last page of my husband's Sports Illustrated to read Reilly's column, and I greatly enjoyed re-reading these classics. Reilly almost always makes me cry - from some heartwarming story or from laughing until the tears come!

Fun and sweet like the main character's cakes, this is chick lit for women who aren't single, fashion-obsessed and living in Manhattan. Great summer reading... with recipes!

I loved this movie! Definitely recommend for teens struggling to figure out who they are in terms of their spirituality, sexuality and friends. While the film, mocks the over-zealous Christian, it's not anti-religious film... just anti-hypocrisy. Good acting all around, and very funny!
