An absorbing and surprising account of the turf war and political strife off the coast of the Horn of Africa. I was riveted to the last.

George Saunders is absolutely hilarious! I didn't think he could get any funnier... then I read his Q&A on Powell's site! Ha! Is it something in his water?!

Fingersmith: A Novel by Sarah Waters
Fingersmith: A Novel

Lenny, April 4, 2006

Sarah Waters has been one of the most surprising forces to enter the historical fiction genre. Don't be fooled that her books are only interesting for women who date women. She is a lucid and engaging novelist, producing enjoyable period pieces. I highly recommend "Fingersmith" as a good starting point.
