This series is fabulous. My husband and I watched the TV series of the first book, and then I searched for and found the boxed set, and read all of it voraciously. George R R Martin has been compared with J R R Tolkien, and I would add Ursula K Le Quin, and Stephen R Donaldson. The best of the best in fantasy writers.

I read this book in 2005 and thoroughly enjoyed it! It is comparable to a Nova programme on PBS: a friendly reporter doing a science documentary on brain-imaging technology and the chemicals involved in many aspects of psychology, for example; pain-management, embarassment, the learning process. Definitely an engaging read for anyone who wants to get to know themselves better!(13 of 25 readers found this comment helpful)
