My sister slept with the light on until she was 27. She rightfully blames me. I would leap out of closets with my hands made into claws. I would...

Nancy Mitford's two most popular novels are terrifically entertaining and well-written. She spins engrossing familial tales while also giving the reader a look inside a slice of British life between WWI and WWII. Mitford presents her characters with a sharp eye and wit that runs throughout the stories. Highly recommended reading!
Good thing I started this book on a lazy Sunday! It is definitely of the book variety so witty and entertaining that you'd want to finish it one sitting if you could. The story is told through Constance Harding's blogging, a past-time she enjoys along with matchmaking, hostessing, bell-ringing, and monitoring her ever-lax household staff. Constance is delusional in the most endearing way possible, and her efforts in all their misguided glory, all come to a pleasant end. A must read!
Another winner from Seal Press! Click is a great compilation of essays from "Third Wave" feminists. The suject matter covers everything from gender binaries to footwear, all delivered in well-written and thoughtful essays from some very inspiring women. Reading this compilation was definitely a rousing reminder of the feminist movement's great victories and the work yet to come.
Absolutely delightful read! If you are an Alice Walker fan, take this little book as an opportunity to drink in more of her personal life and musings. Never read her before? Jump right in with this humorous, insightful book full of love and learning. Once you meet the chickens (Rufus, Agnes of God, Gertrude Stein, and so on), life will never quite look the same...
Just gorgeous! Shields spins a tale that brings to mind books like Everything Is Illuminated, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and Middlesex. Generations are represented with simultaneous gravity and an air of mischievous "que sera sera." The reader moves through Daisy Stone's life with her in an intimate and detailed way, experiencing the years in a sensual, palpable manner. The Sone Diaries is a gift and a pleasure to read.
