Mr. Tiger Goes Wild by Peter Brown
Mr. Tiger Goes Wild

Linda Jane Smith, October 21, 2014

I just bought this book, "Mr. Tiger Goes Wild" for my newest grandchild. This book is a masterpiece of color and beauty. Peter Brown's illustrations are crisp and delightful, and will ignite the imagination and free spirit of any child (and a few adults, including me!)

The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister
The School of Essential Ingredients

Linda Jane Smith, January 1, 2013

Bauermeister weaves a lovely story of food and relationships. The characters are all attending a weekly cooking class, and we learn about their lives and loves as the weeks of cooking progress. Bauermeister's transitions are seamless, and her writing is dreamy. I couldn't put the book down.

It's a Book by Lane Smith
It's a Book

Linda Jane Smith, January 5, 2011

Lane Smith is my hero! He uses silly but oh-so-real characters (who doesn't love a gorilla>!) to remind us that books hold an inherent value beyond the words and stories. I just had my 60th birthday, and more than one family member offered to give me an electronic book reader as a gift. I said, "Oh no, please just give me a real book with paper pages and bright images that a computer cannot produce!" My old bookcase is full to bursting and my coffee table has books piled so high that I cannot see my TV. I don't mind, as my books, their variety of lovely paper and covers bring me comforting pleasure.
I plan on buying several copies of Lane Smith's book for both children and adults whom I love. His art is fabulous, and his messsage is timeless.
