This is a sweet, old-fashioned story that is very appealing to little children (as is the little fur patch on the front.) Garth William's illustrations are very charming and nostalgic for us older parents. This is a very sweet simple book. If your children enjoy singing (or being sung to), it is very easy to make a little singing game out of this book, with the reader and child acting out the different activities - peek-a-boo, tickling, bouncing, etc. I got this for my 13 month old, but it is my 2 1/2 year old that is always calling for 'Baby Cakes' at storytime!
