How the Light Gets In (Chief Inspector Gamache Novel #9) by Louise Penny
How the Light Gets In (Chief Inspector Gamache Novel #9)

Lumpy, October 22, 2014

I LOVE this series of books by Louise Penny. I've just completed the most recent one called The Long Way Home, but my favorite in the series is How The Light Gets In, which refers to the fact that we all have cracks in our souls, and that's a good thing because that's how the "light" gets in and helps us become the people we are meant to be. All of the characters are wonderful, as are the stories. How the Light Gets In is a story about love, unconditional love, as are all the books in this series.

Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness by Susannah Cahalan
Brain on Fire: My Month of Madness

Lumpy, December 8, 2012

I was spellbound by this book. I'm very interested in all the new brain research going on now, but this was not just scientific research. It was about a real person whose body attacked her brain, and all she went through in her month-long hospital stay before doctors came up with an answer and a treatment plan. Amazing story!
