World Without End by Ken Follett
World Without End

Michael Hagenbuch, April 1, 2013

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Pillars of the Earth because I became engrossed in the story line, characters, setting, and culture. All complimented with rich detail. As fictionalized history, Follett does his research and has greatly improved his story telling skills. This was a page turner for me as well as the sequel World Without End. I have read the first two books of his next trilogy, Fall of Giants and Winter of the World, with equal interest and intensity.

The Lodge Cast Iron Cookbook: A Treasury of Timeless, Delicious Recipes

We have two cast iron pieces and have yet to use them. Now there is no excuse. From the review, we are inspired to break open the boxes and get cooking, safely and with confidence!

The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
The Art of Racing in the Rain

Michael Hagenbuch, January 28, 2012

If there was a 5 + I would rank it that and more. This is one of those "page turners" in the same category as the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, or The Davinci Code, or The Help, etc. that draws you in and won't let go of your undivided attention. The story Stein weaves is very well crafted, keeps interest flowing, and runs the gamut of emotions. It allows pure absorption into the make up of the characters, the setting, and their personalities on so many levels. One of the best books I have ever read for the pure fun and enjoyment of it. A classic of an ending! This is a book you'll want to keep and share at the same time.
