Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins
Jitterbug Perfume

Michael Moy, October 27, 2008

This was the first time I read Tom Robbins, I had been considering reading this book for a while and now wonder why I waited. Not only is this a great story filled with great characters, it makes one consider life and how one lives it. But most importantly Robbins' command of the English language is breathtaking.

Snuff: A Novel by Chuck Palahniuk
Snuff: A Novel

Michael Moy, June 4, 2008

As with all of Palahniuk's novels, he again deals with broken people here. This time though, its through the lens of the porn industry. Which is absolutely brilliant. This is one of his finest novels yet which IS saying a lot. As the story progresses we are dealt tragedy and hilarity, often at the same time. All the while aspects of American life such as sex, celebrity, obsession, and biggest of all, the family unit are scrutinized.

One might look at the title and dismiss this book. Don't. The brilliance of this book is how it manages to not only entertain, but serves as a caution to shortsighted thinkers and capture all the best and worst that mankind is capable of.

Crooked Little Vein: A Novel by Warren Ellis
Crooked Little Vein: A Novel

Michael Moy, January 23, 2008

This book is in fact hilarious so long as you find perverse, strange and perhaps even disguting acts of sex and the people who perform them to be funny. But that's not all. There is an underlying theme of government's desire for ultimate power, and how one might fight against it. And If none of that interests you, you'll never look at Godzilla the same way again.
