While it can be a bit tedious and grandiose at points, this is a highly entertaining book for any Deadhead - new or old. Not that justification of the music is required ... but seeing it through such a lens is certainly enriching. Recommended!

THE book if you want to know all about those things your mother (well, most mothers) didn't want you to know about - and probably didn't know herself! Fascinating, well-researched and fun. What more can you want from a book about sex in all its varied manifestations?

Fantastic! I'd always loved the film as a kid, but when I read the original I was reminded - once again - why the book is almost always better than the movie!

In a world where our present satisfaction often supercedes even a consideration of future impact, Powers's novel serves as a brilliant reminder of the interrelation of now and later. Outstanding.

An anthology of rather esoteric writings about the origins of religion. Revelations include the identification of soma as the amanita muscaria (fly agaric) mushroom - the same 'fruit' at the heart of the Judaeo-Christian Fall story - and the rediscovery of this knowledge in the 1950s in the mushroom cults of South America. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the history of religion.
