Complex Variables by George Polya

Michael Tseng, March 2, 2009

Professor George Polya was famous for the clarity of his teaching and writing. He understood the students' attitude toward the mandatory courses and students' skepticism about the usefulness of the subjects that they are forced to take.

This particular book "Complex Variables" was the textbook when I took the course of "Complex Analysis" 32 years ago as a Mechanical Engineering student. I did not appreciate it as much as I appreciate it 30 years later. My ignorance then did not appreciate that this 327-page book is a crystal clear as well as sufficiently self-contained one for a engineering or science student.

It is worth to chew and digest every sentence in this book. They are nothing more and nothing less. Especially for those who had studied this subject before, this book is an excellent one for one to quickly review the subject.
