The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
The Book Thief

Michelle Wilczewski, September 19, 2011

Mark Zusak used an inventive approach to bring us a new perspective on the Holocaust. Not only were we looking at it through the eyes of a child but through the one thing that could claim her irrevocably. I couldn't put this book down.

Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne
Boy in the Striped Pajamas

Michelle Wilczewski, September 19, 2011

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is an incredible book. Taking on the perspective of a nine year old boy; it really speaks to the innocence of that age and to the horrors of the world around him. Even in the microcosm that was created we could see juts how truly awful things were.

City of the Beasts (P.S.) by Isabel Allende
City of the Beasts (P.S.)

Michelle Wilczewski, July 18, 2010

I was in a reading funk: nothing was keeping my attention. Then I saw Allende on the shelf and knew she wouldn't let me down. City of the Beasts is an amazing adventure in life and in magic; true to Allende's style. It kept me engrossed and I couldn't put it down until it was over. Sadly so it is over, for now. There are two more adventures awaiting and I can't wait to get to the store and start them. Fans of Allende and new readers won't be disappointed. Instead they'll be enlightened!!!

Resurrection (Penguin Classics) by Leo Tolstoy
Resurrection (Penguin Classics)

Michelle Wilczewski, May 8, 2010

After having learned more about the life of Tolstoy I became obsessed and found this unheard of novel. It is a mind opening experience that left me wanting more. His philosophy on humanity permeates throughout and is just as relevant today as it was 100 years ago. Taking his readers to a place they may not have expected to go we arrive at the doorstep of a time so different from our own but it many ways just like it. The main character Prince N. goes on an inner journey that takes hime place he never expected and comes out the better for it.
