The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald
The Great Gatsby

Neal Iversen, October 23, 2010

The book that stopped me from dreading English III; F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel “The Great Gatsby,” is about the misgivings that people who want money have about people who have money. Gatsby is a retired war vet who has a burning desire to impress Daisy, a wealthy woman who lives across the bay and has never needed to work a day in her life. The novel is from the perspective of Nick, Daisy’s cousin, who is new to the city. Nick observes Gatsby’s attempts to impress Daisy and prove he has lots of money by throwing lavish parties.
