I'm currently reading 'On Writing Well' by William Zinsser. It's really helping me learn how to line edit. It's written in a very personable, non-textbook style, so it's easy to read and very straight-forward. It's tailored to non-fiction writers, but all of the advice given applies to fiction writers as well. I highly recommend this book!
I loved this book. The story of the Flannigan brothers is sad, at times bittersweet, and real. Reading this book is experiencing the way in which they float around their sad, small town and what life is like when the universe doesn't give you a break.
Overall, it's very touching and well-written. I'm looking forward to reading Vlautin's next novel, Northline.
