This book blew me away. As it deals with issues of justice more than revenge, with more completeness of a character than romance. My favorite thing about the novel, though, was the dialogue. I thought was so realistic, meaning what would have been spoken in the early seventeenth century. Add castles, adventure, romance, murder and fleeing for your life, and you have an amazing story.Expanding on the romance between its hero and Ophelia, who narrates this version keeping true to the structure of the play, the hero, now 16, reports the tragic events in the troubled Elsinore castle. Her mother is dead, and that loss is what makes her turn to women who can be substitutes for the one person who would have loved her unreservedly and completely.
