Great House by Nicole Krauss

Both a masterful storyteller and a poet, Krauss has given her readers an experience and not just a distraction. Her characters are intelligent, sophisticated, and buffeted by inevitable circumstances. Objects are also alive in Great House in that they "collect" the lives of those who possess them over time. Great House embodies a world I fully comprehend but try as I may will never fully understand.
