I loved this book. We Follow Nadiya's journey from a young girl in Ukraine who follows her heart and slips out of her house to have her fortune told only to return and find her family dead, killed by the Germans. She loses her first love on the same night and ends up living in one of the camps until the war's end, when she chooses an abusive man over a better life because of her guilt over having been gone when her family was killed. We next see her as an elderly woman, still keeping her secret, but nevertheless acting as matriarch of her large ukranian family. I won't tell you more. Buy the book. You won't regret it!
