Gimlette is a great writer and this book is a wonderful example. He weaves history and travel in a very entertaining read that provided me my first real look at Paraguay's history. He moves back and forth between history lessons and his own experiences in a smooth and rather fascinating way. If you are at all interested in South America and Paraguay specifically, this is a must-read.
