Boone: A Biography by Robert Morgan
Boone: A Biography

Paula Jordan, December 31, 2007

This extraordinary biography provides a very personal introduction to the man who more than anyone else came to symbolize the earliest period of America's westward expansion. Robert Morgan's exhaustive research, thorough analysis, and brilliant insight are brought to the page with a true storyteller's gift, revealing not only the legend, but also the humanity of this multifaceted, multitalented man and the incredible beauty and richness of the Kentucky wilderness as he first experienced it. It provides, as well, timely insights into the complex interactions of individuals, empires, and the natural, economic, and political forces that transformed his wilderness within a few short years. A most absorbing and rewarding read.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter #07) by J. K. Rowling
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter #07)

Paula Jordan, August 8, 2007

In addition to everything good that has been said about the writing, plotting, and creative skills exhibited in the entire series, I would add that this book, of all the series, connects most warmly and movingly with the human nature beneath all the wizardry. Harry Potter truly shines.
