Choke: A Novel by Chuck Palahniuk
Choke: A Novel

Penni4, May 5, 2012

Not for the faint at heart, but by far one of the best Palahniuk books written. This is the first of his books I read. I enjoyed it so much I read 4 more of his books one right after the other. Yes it's a little sick but it does have some undertone humor to it. Though I wouldn't want Victor as a friend, he is an interesting character to follow around. If you prefer light hearted books this is not the book for you. If don't mind a bit of twisted, mind bending reading, read this book.

Rant: The Oral Biography of Buster Casey by Chuck Palahniuk
Rant: The Oral Biography of Buster Casey

Penni4, May 5, 2012

How is there only 3 reviews on this book? Rant came recommended to me years ago by a good friend. I never read it. Then a year later it came recommended again, so this time I did read it. And I devoured every page. It is sick, and interesting, and disgusting and delightful. This is definitely one of my favorite Chuck P books. After having read this well written story I do have to question though if there is something seriously devious in me or in my friends?

Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood
Oryx and Crake

Penni4, May 5, 2012

I Love this book. So much that I am reading it again and cannot wait for the 3rd book in the series to be finished and released. Read Dianah's Staff Pick of this book it is a good depiction of the story that lies ahead. Do you like dystopian novels? Do yo want to be entertained and also slightly frightened by the closeness to reality it could be? Get this book now and then get Year of The Flood.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett
The Help

Penni4, May 5, 2012

If you read The Secret Life of Bees or Fried Green Tomatoes at the Wistlestop cafe and liked them you will like this book. You can read the synopsis to know what the book is about. What I will tell you is that the book was well written. The Help has good character development and the story will keep you entertained throughout the entire book.

The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games #1) by Suzanne Collins
The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games #1)

Penni4, January 9, 2012

I NEVER read a book in a weekend. I Love to read, but books usually lose me after a few chapters. This is one book that had me wanting to read more at every turn of the page. The Hunger Games is not the most thought provoking book, but the characters are incredibly believable that you become a viewer of the Game.
It's a good book if you are at all interested in 1. dystopian books 2. books where the author doesn't feel the urge to use BIG words just to make the book sound smarter or 3. characters who you can relate to.
With Two chapters left, I am running to Powell's to grab the 2nd and 3rd book of the trilogy.
