Kobo Glo eReader by Kobo
Kobo Glo eReader

Penny Oubre, April 13, 2013

I am a very happy Kobo Glo user. The light is wonderful and more even than the NST Glow and the Paperwhite. I have had some issues with firmware but a quick visit to Mobileread forums pointed me to newer firmware and fixes. The touch screen took a while for me to get used to. If my finger lingered too long on the screen it would jump more than one page at the time. Library titles must be loaded onto your Glo via Adobe Digital Editions. One issue that stood out was that if a library title has expired and you try to load other library titles onto the KOBO, an Adobe Digital Editions message will appear saying that your books are not authorized and the books will not open. You have to remove all of the expired books BEFORE loading the new ones and should have no problems. Ebay has some wonderful, cheap cases for ereaders that will fit the KOBO Glo and Mini. I have read that Kobo customer service is not as good as Amazon Kindle but I have not had to contact Kobo at all so I really can't say this is a fact. I purchased my Glo from Powell's and you only have a one month window to return it to powell's...other than that you must contact Kobo for any technical issues. I have never felt the need to return the Kobo Glo or contact customer support. This glo was purchased to replace an Aztak EZ Reader Pro. I read for two hours a night.(insomnia) The battery last me for several weeks. It is a wonderful unit and if "new and improved" versions of lighted readers come out within the next year...I like this one so much that it would really take a LOT of "bling and new features" to get me to replace the Glo. I highly suggest that people who have any issues with your current ereader(Kobo or not)to head over to mobilread forums to seek help. Your problem may be easily fixed.

Winning any version of the Kobo would be wonderful as my dd is begging me to get her one. :-)
