The Amanda Knox trial was fraught with controversy and this biased book does nothing to improve the public's understanding of the case.
Barbie Latza Nadeau covered the case for both Newsweek and the Daily Beast and is quick to point out that unlike other journalists she attended all but two court sessions. She complains that readers in the US never got the full story which begs the question: Didn't she have the opportunity to tell it in the 20 odd articles she wrote about the case?
Has anyone here ever heard of two people who commit a murder, go to sleep, and wake up the next morning with no memory of it? That's what Barbie thinks happened. Has anyone ever heard of a rape of a young woman by a stranger that was instigated by a female college roommate? That's what Barbie thinks happened. She accepts without independent corroboration anything and everything Italian investigators tell her about the case even though their work has been the subject of unprecedented international condemnation.
For educated people the debate about this case ended long ago. The trial was a modern day witch hunt fully supported by two European nations. In time the general public will come to better understand the truth about the case. The historical judgment about Barbie Latza Nadeau's contribution will be harsh indeed.
