This is such a sad story about a monster who killed three people and took a 13 year old girl to his house filled with leaves. It was later told to not to get the death sentence, the killer put the three bodies in a tree. With her mother, brother and a family friend dead, she tries to go on with her life with her father.

Boy in the Striped Pajamas (Movie Tie-In Edition) by John Boyne
Boy in the Striped Pajamas (Movie Tie-In Edition)

It is a very sad book about what a man would do to another man, when a monster is in charge of the people. But, it tells how children only see the good and that we are all alike.Children are born pure and loving, until adults teach them how to hate and be cruel. This book makes you stop and think, we should be like children.

Abandon Ship!: The Saga of the U.S.S. Indianapolis, the Navy's Greatest Sea Disaster by Richard F Newcomb
Abandon Ship!: The Saga of the U.S.S. Indianapolis, the Navy's Greatest Sea Disaster

RSTEPHEN8103, August 4, 2012

I have read this book a few times. It was so shocking how over 800 men died on the seas because of paper misconfusion. A japanese sub sank the ship after dropping off the nuclear bomb. Five days and nights the men were in the water waiting for help, by the time it came only 100 men were left alive. but, the saddest part is the captain of the Indianapolis Captain McVay went on trail for not zig-zagging his ship, and that is why the sub sank it. Captain McVay was never the same, feeling it was he fault his men died. He shot himself on his front steps years later. Many mothers sent him letters calling him a murderer for the loss of their sons.

The Coffin Quilt: The Feud Between the Hatfields and the McCoys (Great Episodes) by Ann Rinaldi
The Coffin Quilt: The Feud Between the Hatfields and the McCoys (Great Episodes)

RSTEPHEN8103, June 10, 2012

I had watched the mini-series The Hatfields and Mccoys and wanted to learn more about the history of the family. I read The Coffin Quilt by Ann Rinaldi. It is told to by the youngest daughter of the MCoys, Fanny who was born in 1878, the beginning of the feud between the families. It tells how she saw her oldest sister die of broken heart by the man she loved, Johnse Hatfield. I could not put this book down and want everyone to read this great book.
