Jerusalem: The Biography by Simon Sebag Montefiore
Jerusalem: The Biography

Raissa M, January 1, 2012

Fascinating with facts and assessment of facts integrated in a splendid writing style. Erudite author: writing skills, ability to utilize the English language, history with culturally determined factors expressed as part of the changing norms over centuries. A remarkable and complex city to visit even if one is rather ignorant of its historical continuity. (While walking in this Old City one feels he/she is walking with the ancients and is obligated to walk honorably for the sake of posterity.) This author conveys a profound knowledge of the city per se, and an even more profound love of and for the City of Jerusalem.
He writes an extraordinary biography of Jerusalem: both the ancient and contemporary City which seems to exist in 2 places at one time: on Earth and in the World to Come.
