Erin Gruwell took Ghandi's challenge: she became the change she hoped to see in the world. And the 150+ students who would not have ever received an education were changed...the story of the Freedom Writers is inspiring and as important as ever....
This amazing book about the life of Louis Zamperini kept me up late at night and caused me to play hookey from work (don't tell my boss!) The writing is fabulous and the details just grab you -- I don't usually like "war memoirs" but this was so much more than I ever imagined. It truly was the best book I read in 2011.

Geoffrey Canada has created solutions for educating children in Harlem that can and should be replicated all over the country. "Whatever it Takes" is a compelling narrative that will draw you in and make you want to find out what he has done and how he has done it.
