1493: Uncovering the New World Columbus Created

Robert Nicol, January 19, 2012

This is a great follow-up to Mr. Mann's earlier novel 1491. Once again Mr. Mann has given us new insight and revelations into how the world was forever changed by contact with the new world. And once again his research is very thorough and spot on. His notes are again voluminous and enlightening. This follow-up book is a little hard slugging in places (i.e sections on malaria, but well worth the time and effort). Once again Mr. Mann opens up new insights and wonders that we never knew about(such as the silver exchange and use to make Chinese coinage and the repercussions thereof throughout Asia and the European Financial system). Overall this is a wonderful and fantastic read for anyone interested in the Whys and Hows of World History and the ever changing face of humanity.
