And the Dark Sacred Night by Julia Glass
And the Dark Sacred Night

Ronald B Gould, June 26, 2014

As with "Three Junes" and "I see you Everywhere", Julia Glass's newest book "And the Dark and Sacred Night" is sure to be a national award winner. And there are even some cross-over characters between "Three Junes" and "Dark and Sacred Night". Her writing style is just captivating and she leaves no stones unturned.

Kindred Beings: What 73 Chimpanzees Taught Me about Life, Love, and Connection

Ronald B Gould, January 13, 2014

My bad. Edmund Stone is not on OPB. He is key to All Classical Portland (www.thescore.org). Sorry for the error. And the book is still great.

Kindred Beings: What 73 Chimpanzees Taught Me about Life, Love, and Connection

Ronald B Gould, January 13, 2014

Kindred Beings is one of the best reads I have had in the past 15 years. Dr. Speede finds a way to connect you to the world of chimpanzees and literally talk about life, love and connection. Be prepared to cry through the second half of the book. And she now spends half of the year back in Portland, Oregon. For those of you who enjoy Oregon Public Radio, find yourself also connected to Edmund Stone, Host and Producer of "The Score". He and several other people are key to the success of Sheri Speede's colorful memoir. Enjoy!

Criminal by Karin Slaughter
Criminal

Ronald B Gould, January 1, 2013

Karin Slaughter comes through again. Starting with Undone, through Broken and Fallen, she ends with Criminal. These people are tough and they started from the bottom to rise to every occasion. This is a character developed cops and robbers, with many twists and turns. Enjoy the read(s).

Gold by Chris Cleave
Gold

Ronald B Gould, August 9, 2012

This is the first novel I have read by Chris Cleave, and it was nothing but outstanding. He tells a very good story that is tightly written with many forward and backward looks. His characters are all believable and range from the young daughter to the old and frail coach. He also is a great Star Wars fan and channels his expertise of the various characters through the daughter. You will absolutely enjoy the read. It is also quite contemporary with the main objective being the 2012 Olympics.
