Grey Griffins #01: Revenge of the Shadow King

“The Revenge of the Shadow King has all the ingredients that make for a great fantasy. I was hooked on the first page,” Jenny Nimmo, author of the Charlie Bones series states. This book will reach out to all children who wish to live a life of fairytales and adventure. Benz and Lewis have done a phenomenal job capturing such a remarkable fantasy and kept the readers mind wondering. From the minute you pick this book up to the time you put it down, the magic will never end. Max Sumner and his three best friends create a club named the Grey Griffins, in which they would meet and play a simple card game. This remarkable page turner begins when Max Sumner accidently unleashes a magical creature called a “Spriggan” from a book he found in his grandmother’s attic. Following this all the creatures from the card game are released and sent to wreak havoc on their small town. The book then takes off on a magical plot twisting adventure of a lifetime that will leave the reader breathless and craving more. I specifically really enjoyed how the authors made not-so-average and fantasized events more realistic and believable. If you’re one to daydream and want to fulfill that hidden fantasizing side of you, I’d recommend picking up this fascinating read.
