Giants in the Earth: A Saga of the Prairie (Perennial Classics) by O E Rolvaag
Giants in the Earth: A Saga of the Prairie (Perennial Classics)

Selma, January 30, 2013

Although written in the 1920's, this book has relevance even today. Extremely well written, the author allows the reader to get to know the characters intimately, feel their struggles and experience their triumphs. One of the best books I've read describing the life of early pioneers and in this case early immigrants. You'll feel the cold, the wind and hear the grasshoppers gnawing! This book really should be on the "Must Read" list for high school readers!

Hope for the Flowers by Trina Paulus
Hope for the Flowers

This is a book which spans all ages.....I have used it in a Sunday School class (teens) and in an adult book discussion group. I give it regularly as an additional wedding gift with a reminder to read it every few years. It really brings home the truth that relationships are to be valued and to be nurtured always!
