Fire World By: Chris d’Lacey

Fire World was a book full of emotion. It quickly varied from happy, sad, angry, confusion and somehow also kept it changing in new and unexpected ways. It is the sixth book in a series and I quite enjoyed them, although the ending of the fifth book left me rather confused. This book was no different. It had the adventure, the legendary dragons, the quiet underlying evil and it all went together perfectly. Although it was very confusing. In the beginning you do not know where the overall setting is or who the characters are. You are in a different dimension as it turns out; the problem I have is that in no way did the last book set you up for that. It continually poured on new questions and no answers. I found it hard to follow what was really happening at times. It vaguely tied in the previous books but didn’t explain what happened on earth or the plot of the series. It didn’t leave me satisfied. Also I couldn’t see any clear theme to this story. If it had one it was rather hidden. If I had to take a guess though I would say that it was when things are at their worst they can only get better. A part that really shows that is when they are David is seriously injured and then is miraculously healed. But I would still recommend the series, after all it has that, “spark” of magic.
