Rustic Fruit Desserts: Crumbles, Buckles, Cobblers, Pandowdies, and More by Cory Schreiber and Julie Richardson
Rustic Fruit Desserts: Crumbles, Buckles, Cobblers, Pandowdies, and More

Shannon Kirkpatrick, September 20, 2011

This recipe book is filled with fabulous dessert ideas that will make your stomach growl with hunger. I have made several of them to take with me to parties and potlucks - and they have been complete hits! The recipes themselves are straightforward and don't take any special equipment or know-how. I also love how the book is arranged by which fruits are available and at their peak during each season - so you know exactly which desserts will be best to serve, depending on the time of year. I recommend this cookbook to anyone, but particularly anyone cooking in the NW.

Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri
Interpreter of Maladies

Shannon Kirkpatrick, January 20, 2010

This may be a slim volume of short stories, but packed into each one is a full-scale human drama. I found these stories extremely satisfying; some were gripping and poignant, others a bit wry and funny, but all of them were both full of feeling and extremely relatable. Thank you to the friend who gave this to me on my birthday, since this is one of the best books I have read - period.
