Funny that the best book I have read this year is heavy on images and low on text. Joe McNally's stories that go with each of his images are funny, sad, dry, and factual, often all at once.
The book gives a window into the authors life beyond the images on magazine covers that have made him an icon of photography. His stories of the impact on his family are particularly touching, and sobering. Who knew the personal costs of getting published on the cover of National Geographic could be so high.
