The Well of Lost Plots: A Thursday Next Mystery (Thursday Next Mysteries #03) by Jasper Fforde
The Well of Lost Plots: A Thursday Next Mystery (Thursday Next Mysteries #03)

Smegasis, January 7, 2010

Through five books, this (currently) middle installment stands out as my favorite. Jasper Fforde has created the most unique fictional world I have ever come across. Perhaps I love this one the best because I read it at a time when everything I read and watched seemed to be recycled from another time when original ideas were actually valued, but I'm sure that even without that factor in it's corner, The Well of Lost Plots would still rank as one of the best books I've ever read because it's so one-of-a-kind. Even when there are plot points that seem completely overdone in every form of fictional entertainment, Fforde manages to do them in such a way that you don't really mind, and instead focus on trying to figure out how he's going to resolve everything. I would recommend this to anyone who loves reading and desperately wishes that the characters they read and love are real, in some way or another. Appreciation of British humor a plus.
