Too clunky to be a cookbook, too self indulgent to be a coffee table book. The recipes require specialized tools, great amounts of space to pull off, and a fair amount of physical dexterity. None are for the faint of heart. Clearly they were written with great care, but frankly they make one weary just to read. Moreover, when all is said and done, one is making nothing terribly spectacular, just the likes of madelines, or scones. Really a specialty tome, for the nearly pofessional pastry chef who wants tips on how to do fairly basic things, and doesn't mind that they come in a huge package.
