The Greater Journey was a fun and fascinating educational experience about art, communication systems, medical science, what was considered scandelous. Paris for a time was the center of just about everything....the fledging United States of America went there to learn and grow and never stop growning.
This book entertained and taught~why can't all history be taught this way? I learned about the Morse Code, medicine, art, travel, politics, habits of the time~not wanting to put it down and finding myself rereading to make sure I understood.
I have a greater appreciation for several of the artists~not wanting to give anything way...you might find yourself looking up paintings...with your new knowledge. Have given this book as gifts and told many people to read it~no one has come back complaining that I don't know what I'm talking about. Enjoy it for yourself!
My 11 year old son and I listened to this book on a roadtrip, he didn't want to get out of the car.
The story teaches history, friendship, and family. What I found so interesting were the little known facts about the London Blitz , the author also gave a sense of the terror the Londoners endured.
I was surprised about the familial and adult toned situations, however, facts are facts.
I don't want to give the story away, just know that it kept this 43 year old and an 11 year fully engaged.
