The Great Work of Your Life: A Guide for the Journey to Your True Calling by Stephen Cope
The Great Work of Your Life: A Guide for the Journey to Your True Calling

Susan Amundson, January 16, 2013

This is a fabulous read for those who are interested in connecting with their dharma or their inner sacred duty, their calling in life. The author, Stephen Cope, brings to life the story of Arjuna and Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita and applies it to our contemporary lives, dilemmas, questions, and seekings. Although I had read very little of the Gita, its story is amazing in its relevance for gaining more meaning and clarity in our lives today.

Cope's writing style is easy to lean into with a rich human element. His illustrative stories of famous and less famous people who were following their calling are conceptually well-woven and inspirational. It's obvious that his dharma is writing about this topic.

The Great Work of Your Life was definitely my favorite book of 2012 -- and maybe of 2013 too.
