An excellent reader with specific recommendations on how to be "resilient," both personally and communally, in the coming post-carbon years. Changed my thinking on our casual use of the word "sustainability." In addition to the chapters on fuel, water, and food, there is study of social sustainability, something I had never considered. Really thought-provoking work here.
While vaguely aware of all the privileges we have as Americans, this book spotlights the various levels of food accessibility we have within the US, and how that compares with the rest of the world. It is not a "how-to" eat on $1 a day, as much as a how-to eat well, without wasting food. It's a really well written book and I learned more than I thought I would! They are very honest about the tolls of eating on a $1 a day!

This book isn't what I thought it was! It sat on my bookshelf for a long time and recently I picked it up and started reading. It is a fantastic journey about art and becoming real and listening to nature. It is like a meditation, pure inspiration!
