Our Granny by Margaret Wild
Our Granny

Susanne Hammel-Sawyer, July 14, 2009

When I did story times at the public library, this book was always part of my Mother's Day collection. Recently, I bought the book through you, and it has become my grandchildren's favorite. Both text and illustrations are warm and funny and lend themselves to much discussion of differences and likenesses between people. Best of all, reading this book with children always ends with smiles and hugs!

Eternal Echoes: Celtic Reflections on Our Yearning to Belong by John O'donohue
Eternal Echoes: Celtic Reflections on Our Yearning to Belong

Susanne Hammel-Sawyer, May 5, 2009

I borrowed this book from the library, but after copying long passages into my journal and photocopying others, I've decided that it's a book I need to own, mark up, share. The ideas of divine restlessness and of daily prayer are not always popular or even comfortable, but John O'Donohue transcends religion to speak to our basic sense of soul and spirituality. His blessings, in this book, and more fully in To Bless the Space Between Us, are a way of sending care to a hurting world. His insights are universal and helpful.
