As a cook, Julia Child had long been one of my mentors and idols. This book transformed her into a full person for me, with wonderful qualities one could only guess about from seeing her 'public' life. After reading this book, I am disappointed that Julie and Julia was made into a film instead of the triumphant and soulful journey that Julia Child details.
Julia Child got peoples attention first by caring about food; it turns out she cared very deeply about many things, and is a wonderful example of how all of us can truly live, love and dream. There is not a false note in it.
