This book is highly recommended because it has large pictures of marks[/kw] and representative items from well-known as well as obscure factories. For each mark, there is a brief description and picture of a representative piece. This guide is different from the other guides that are mostly old and consequently any pictures of pieces are in poor-quality black and white (some guides do not show pieces at all.) The older guides are difficult to use because they require you to know the manufacturer already. This guide has an excellent index as well as factory names at the top of each page. It discusses American as well as European pottery and porcelain.
