Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife by Mary Roach
Spook: Science Tackles the Afterlife

Terri, January 22, 2007

This account of the many ways that science has tried to verify the existence of an afterlife is nicely researched, very funny and delves deeply enough to give the reader much to think about. It?s tremendous fun following the author?s curiosity as it leads her through the process of researching the question. I couldn't put it down.

Victorian Lace Today by Jane Sowerby
Victorian Lace Today

Terri, January 22, 2007

This beautifully photographed, well-researched book not only gives an intriguing look at what knitting was like in the Victorian era, it updates the old patterns so that they're understandable to contemporary knitters. In short, it's luscious, and from all the chatter on the knitting sites, it's without a doubt the knitting "It" book this year. If you've ever been tempted to knit lace, or already love knitting lace, just try picking this book up without buying it. I dare you.
